Rio de Janeiro is SO nice right nowSummer is just starting to get into full swing south of the equator. My family's nice and all, but.... well, samba and beach versus.. well.... Get me outta here! |

Sun and FunLove Florida during Thanksgiving! Eating Turkey and prime rib at a outside restaurant in 80 degree weather appeals to me much more than Iowa weather. Heading to the beach afterwards is definitely better than the couch to watch football. Plus no relation! |

Oxford, Englandi am one of those rare few that actually likes my family, so i'd pack everyone up to come with me to Oxford. While summer there is magical, there is nothing better than the brisk chill of fall -- it's the perfect time to cozy up to a pint at the Eagle and Child, peruse the used books at Blackwell's and go to evensong at Christ Church Cathedral. |

Hey, someone's gotta take care of Mom or Dad if they're sick on ThanksgivingI'm a nurse and have to work Thursday and Friday 12 hour days. We're here for you, though, if you need us. We will have a nice pot luck complete with turkey, stuffing, desserts, etc. Nice thing about holidays, we usually get a few minutes to eat, and wouldn't you rather have a medical team that's had chance to eat once in 12 hours. Often we don't, or eat while working. So all of you travelers, please appreciate those people working on the holiday so they can serve you. |

Eastern EuropeThe family is out on the west coast - so it's either a six hour flight west or seven hours east?...Looks like it will be goulash and soaks in the bath houses in Prague and Budapest instead of turkey and football for me this holiday. |

Argentina in the SpringMy husband and I are vacationing in Buenos Aires for Thanksgiving. We will attend The Americano Club for a Thanksgiving turkey dinner for the third year. The US Ambassador will read a letter from our President and we all sing America the Beautiful & God Bless America. |

Alone, Not LonelyI want to be alone. I would relish a chili dog and a beer on a sun-drenched beach around 4. That night, a full moon--for the light, not the romance. Tiny waves. Ch-shhh. Ch-shhh. Ch-shhh. A lazy trade wind. It never gets cold. It never gets old. |

Viva Mexico!Sponteneity at its finest: Purchased my ticket at 3am to go to Mexico City. I am spending Thanksgiving with my best friend getting to know el D.F., Cuernavaca, Tepoztlan, and the pyramids in warm, sunny weather. I will be enjoying REAL Mexican food while my family eats turkey in chilly Pinehurst, NC. |
